Ruben Neves Want Wolves To Finish The Job
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves believes Wolverhampton Wanderers should now finish the job of attaining automatic promotion after claiming back-to-back wins over Reading and Burton Albion. The west Midlands outfit had suffered a minor setback prior to the victories, but they have steadied the ship once more, with a 13-point lead over third-placed Aston Villa.
Speaking after the Burton triumph, Neves stressed that the Wolves are focused on their job at hand as they seek to end their six-year wait for Premier League promotion, he said: "It was a very good win for us. We know Burton came to Molineux to win points, they need points, but we did a very good job. It was really cold but the team are focused and the weather doesn't matter for us – we just play. Fortunately, we can play good and win the game on Saturday. We are focused on our game. We had some bad results before but we bounced back really good. We showed we're focused on our Championship.”
Neves is now with the Portugal national side for the upcoming friendlies against Egypt and the Netherlands and the young midfielder believes the break has come at the right time for the Wolves. The 21-year-old’s decision to join the Wolves from Porto was seen as a surprise to many earlier in the summer, but the transfer appears to have paid off for both the player and the club.
Whilst Wolves are closing in on a long-awaited return to the top-tier, Neves has also earned a comeback into Fernando Santos’ side, and he will be hoping to cement his position with the World Cup due to start in less than three months’ time. Neves’ progress this season has caught the eye of several high-profile clubs including Manchester United, and it will be interesting to see whether he stays with his current employers beyond the summer.
